چکیده

Light-pulse propagation in angularly dispersive systems is explored in the context of a center-of-mass definition of energy arrival time. In this context the time of travel is given by a superposition of group delays weighted by the spectral content of the pulse. With this description the time of travel from one point to the next for a pulse is found to be completely determined by the spectral content, independent of the state of chirp. The effect of sensor orientation on arrival time is also considered. © 2001 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: 260.2160, 050.1590, 350.5030.

Implementation of porous silicon technology for a fluidic flow-through optical sensor for pH measurements

This work presents an innovative integration of sensing and nano-scaled fluidic actuation in the combination of pH sensitive optical dye immobilization with the electro-osmotic phenomena in polar solvents like water for flow-through pH measurements. These flow-through measurements are performed in a flow-through sensing device (FTSD) configuration that is designed and fabricated at MTU. A relat...

Fabrication Of Cu(In,Ga)Se2 Solar Cells With In2S3 Buffer Layer By Two Stage Process

Cu(In,Ga)Se2 thin films (CIGS) on metallic substrate (titanium, molybdenum, aluminum, stainless steel) were prepared by a two-step selenization of Co-evaporated metallic precursors in Se-containing environment under N2 gas flow. Structural properties of prepared thin film were studied. To characterize the optical quality and intrinsic defect nature low-temperature photoluminescence, were perfor...

The Origin of Color in “fire” Obsidian

A variety of obsidian from Glass Buttes, Oregon, known as “fi re” obsidian and named for thin layers showing various colors, was investigated with fi eld-emission scanning electron microscopy, X-ray energy-dispersive spectroscopy, electron back-scatter diffraction, and optical spectroscopy methods. Our study reveals that the thin layers mainly consist of concentrated nanometric crystals of magn...
